People ask me what I'm up to. I tell them I'm working on a novel.

Egyptian literature
I know almost nothing about it. And to prove it, here is an old review I wrote of Being Abbas el Abd by Ahmed Alaidy, which is about the alienated youth of Cairo, abuse of power and cellphones.
I'm Robert McGuire, a freelance writer, college writing teacher and frequent traveler working on his first, second and third books.
This blog is inspired by Journal of Novel, the daily diary that John Steinbeck kept while writing East of Eden in which he talked to himself about technical problems in his draft, personal family dramas that were affecting his writing and his daily page count. I talk to myself about a similar scope of issues here.
